General Information

The very popular village of Petra, with its unique beaches and the characteristic cliff, is located on the north of the island of Lesvos and near the fishing village of Molyvos.

One hundred fourteen steps, carved into hard stone of the famous Petra cliff, will lead you to the beautiful church of Panagia Glykophilousa, located on top of the hill with the stunning views. In the settlement is the church of St. Nicholas, another important religious monument in the area.

Petra is one of the most developed tourist spots on the island. There are many hotels, inns, restaurants and bars spread behind the beach, but without affecting the charm of the village.

The beach of Petra is fully regulated and is one of the most beautiful beaches. The bay of Agios Giorgis embellishes the islands, small islets Glaronisi and Ant, which are a protected zone for wild birds and act as ecological observatories.

Three kilometers away from Petra and towards the Northwest, is located the resort of Anaxos, also well-known for its beautiful beaches with the crystal clear deep waters and a creek on the west side.

Tavernas, modern hotel complexes and rooms make up the image of the region.

West of Anaxos area worth visiting the Tsichranta, an idyllic beach in a green valley.

Equally graphic and with many attractions are the villages of Lafiona, Skoutaros, Stypsi and Ipsilometopo, which also worthy a visit.
