We celebrated our wedding and a birthday here, and could not have picked a better place to stay on the whole island. Short walk from a little market, though we rented a moped to get around. The host even gave us a bottle of fizz and some sweet gifts the day after finding out we were getting married! It was a very kind touch. The surroundings of the villa are absolutely stunning and it was blissfully private and serene for our mini moon.

Georgina's House is the perfect hideaway for those looking for peace and quiet, a true away-from-it-all experience! The location is great for walkers, with the dramatic west coast right on your doorstep, dramatic cliffs interspersed with picturesque secluded creeks. There are some charming, authentic Greek villages nearby with tavernas and mini-markets, whilst the bus to the bigger village of Gaios stops just down the road. The villa itself has been tastefully restored retaining its original features such as the flagstone flooring and high ceilings typical of the area, yet with all modern amenities needed for a comfortable and relaxing self-catering holiday. The lounge and both bedrooms are fully air-conditioned, whilst outside sits a covered dining area, ideal for escaping the midday sun. Plenty of sun loungers surround the ample pool terrace, a lovely sun trap for those wishing to top up that tan. If lazing around your own private pool ever becomes run-of-the-mill, then some of Paxos' best beaches are within a 10-minute drive.

General Information

Gaios is the capital of Paxos Island and the largest port, serving large ferries, hydrofoils and sea taxis from Corfu and Igoumenitsa.

As the largest town on the island, Gaios is relatively small and quaint, with Venetian architecture, a labyrinth of side streets, and pedestrian squares along the seafront. Restaurants and snack bars are scattered throughout the town, catering to all tastes and demands.

The surrounding olive groves offer a high standard of local Greek cuisine, a must-try for every visitor. Local amenities include a post office, banks, a chemist, a doctor's surgery, gift shops, a high school, jewellery and handmade craft shops, as well as supermarkets, bakeries, and butchers.

Gaios has a range of waterfront bars, ranging from quiet traditional coffee places to livelier bars playing a variety of music. Taxis are limited in number, and the bus service is regular, and it enables you to reach the resorts of Loggos and Lakka or smaller neighbourhoods.

Gaios is one of the most popular and cosmopolitan resorts in the Mediterranean. Hundreds of VIPs visit Gaios or reside in their private properties every summer, and finding a place to stay during the peak season can be challenging.
