Location

General Information

Gaios is concerned as the capital of Paxos Island and the biggest port, with large ferries, hydrofoils, sea taxis and (occasionally) the hydro plane from Corfu.
Gaios is the largest town on the island. It is still relatively small and quaint with Venetian architecture, a maze of side streets and pedestrians square on the seafront stripe.
Restaurants and snack bars are scattered throughout the town, to cover all tastes and demands.
The surrounding olive grove is offering a high standard of local Greek cuisine, which is a must for each visitor.
Local amenities include a post office, banks, chemist, doctor’s surgery, gift shops, high-school, jewelery and handmade craft shops, as well as supermarkets, bakeries and butchers.
Gaios hosts the only night club on the island and its range of waterfront bars is extensive from a quiet traditional coffee place to livelier bars playing a variety of music.
There is a limited number of taxis based here and a bus service, which is not very regular, but when running enables you to get to the resorts of Loggos and Lakka or smaller neighbourhoods in between.
Gaios is one of the most popular and cosmopolitan resorts in Mediterranean.
Hundreds of VIPs are visiting Gaios or living at their private properties every summer and finding a place to stay in the peak season is a big bet.

We would come back anytime.

We have traveled Greece intensively for years, Villa Alkinoos was one of the nicest quarters. The exposed location above the sea and the extremely beautiful garden with pool thrill immediately. The equipment with kitchen appliances was better than in many other accommodations, self-catering is easily possible. The way to Gaios to shopping was not a problem for us, of course you can rent a car. The villa is well maintained by a very lovely young lady who lives on the neighboring property.

Truly wonderful holiday

After postponing our trip three times due to Covid, we were really really looking forward to our holiday break. It didnt disappoint. Three girlfriends in our 60s, it was the perfect spot to unwind and spend precious time together after a fraught couple of years. The villa is just out of Gaios, which suited us very well. Away from the hustle and bustle and beautifully quiet, but only s short walk downhill to go to the tavernas and shops when we wanted to. We found a very friendly taxi driver (Nicos) to drive us up the hill if it was too hot to walk, although we managed two journeys! The pool and outside is beautifully designed and lots of choice of eating and drinking spaces to make use of the sun shade and different views. Inside is a little brown and maybe could do with some colour and design input! Otherwise it was fabulous.
