General Information

Argaka is situated on the coast, just 7kms north of Polis, NW Cyprus. Famous for its magnificent sunsets and hospitality, Argaka is the place to be!
Argaka is a small traditional Cypriot farming village, built along a ridge with magnificent views of the sea. Its location makes it the ideal place to just sit back and relax.
There is no record of the origins of the village or whether it existed in medieval times, but east of the village lies the restored church of Agia Varva which belonged to the Jerusalem Patriarchate and functioned until 1821.
The settlement of Argaka has two parts. There is Pano Argaka (Upper) and Kato Argaka (Lower). Upper Argaka represents the old settlement while Lower Argaka, which followed the Polis – Pomos – Nicosia road, is the new, linear-type settlement. The houses of the old settlement are mostly traditional, made with hewed limestone or with igneous pebbles. Because of the stream that crosses it (known as the River of Argaka), of the slope upon which it is built, and of the road through which it connects with the new settlement by the sea, the settlement of Argaka can be characterized as a relatively sparsely structured one.
The village features a selection of shops, supermarkets and banks, to satisfy all visitor's needs while on holiday.
Argaka has several dams where fishing may be possible. This part of the island is very fertile and has an abundance of fruit trees including figs, grapes, prickly pears, apples, oranges and lemons.

For us, too, it was a pleasure to stay in your property in Argaka. We had a great week and let me share a few positive (and negative) issues as feedback. Villa Amaryllis was what we expected, spacious and clean. The driving instructions were clear and helpful. The pool boy came twice during our stay. Two lamps at the pool were out of order but the bulbs were quickly replaced after we made a call. The power was cut off on the second day but the manager was again very quick and efficient after we called. On the negative side, noone turned up to clean the villa during our 7-day stay. I think it was mentioned in the description we received beforehand that a cleaning lady was supposed to come. Also, we couldn't make the aircon units work without remote controls on our arrival; we obtained remote controls on the 2nd day only, after we paid the aircon fee. I contacted you before we left for Cyprus on the issue of UK-standard sockets and plugs and was told the villa had the European-type sockets, which was not the case. Anyway, the reaction of the local manager was again quick and we got adapters. Hope this is helpful. Many thanks for your efficient services and I hope to be able to use them again. Greetings

An absolutely beautiful home with a gorgeous view.

The villa looks exactly like the pictures depict. An absolutely beautiful home with a gorgeous view that I could never get enough of. The owner was great about communication. If you need anything, you just ask. We had minor issues when we got there and he came out immediately to fix everything. He texted daily to check on us. He even brought ice cream for all of it. I emailed the owner to tell them we were coming in really early and leaving really late and he let us check in early and leave late at no cost. He also provided a crib and high chair for my daughter at no cost. Even though that isn't in the description. Two things you should know before booking. This villa is not in Paphos. It is about 45 minutes from there. A beautiful and quiet area. A perfect getaway. However, we booked it because it said Paphos so we were quite shocked when we found out how far away it was. We still enjoyed every moment. Probably more so than if we would have stayed in Paphos. It took us about 10 minutes to get to the closest restaurant and about 35 minutes to get to the closest mini market for food and supplies. It says that a maid would come twice a week. We had to request a maid to come. She came out the same day but that was it. Just once in the week we were there. Not a big deal, but it does say that she would come twice. Honestly, if we would have mentioned this to the owners, I am certain they would have sent her every day if we wanted. If you want a quiet getaway with a beautiful view and a yummy restaurant a little walk away, I highly recommend this place.

We had a great stay and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Perfect location, not one minute from a nice, quiet beach. Stores and restaurants close by (by car) but the area is very quiet. The house was big and spacious. The pool was great. The view from the terrace was wonderful. The house could use a little TLC. There were quite a few things that were obviously worn out and needed to be replaced (the bed and linens, stove, pots and pans, etc.) and a bunch of minor things that could probably be taken care of in a day by a competent handyman. We had a great stay and would not hesitate to stay here again. Note: the property is managed by a company, not by an individual as is usually the case with Airbnb.
