Location

General Information

Nisaki is only a very small village, extended from the slopes of mount Pantokrator all the way down to the sea and it is located on the northeast coast of Corfu Island, just 25 kms from Corfu Town.
Nisaki, in the Greek language, means: "small island" and it is believed that took its name from the small island, which existed in its bay. Years ago, the locals used to work on this island, shaping stones and rocks for building, brought to them by boats. After many years, the chippings falling into sea formed a ramp and eventually joined the land. Now, there is a narrow road running between the old island, where a couple of Tavernas are standing and the mainland. Lately, a jetty was constructed, linking it permanently to the coast.
The main village of Nisaki was growing up on the hill, above this inlet, where a church, a school, a small cafe and village's first houses were located.
In now days the village on its own is quite spread out and has got no real center. The main part of the village is alongside and upward the main coastal road. Above the main road there are 2-3 winding lanes that go up high, through olive groves and eventually join Nisaki with the top of Mount Pantokrator.
Hundreds of villas are scattered on the slops of the Mount, offering amazing views and making Nisaki, overall, a very popular resort, even though at most of the times a car would be necessary.
Nissaki is still an un-commercialized resort, but with unbelievable sceneries, promising a relaxing holiday. It is a tranquil village, ideal for family holidays, elderly couples and people who love traditional Greece. Young couples are also welcome, as the area offers a choice of nightlife just a few kilometers further up, in Kassiopi and / or Ipsos.

Reviews

We had a wonderful, family time, the house was much bigger, better and comfortable than we expected

Great place for a family with kids! There is a big private pool where kids can play, it's 2,4m deep so the adults can have fun too. Lots of space around the house, nice terrace in shade where we had our breakfasts, nice grill area for evening meals. Lots of flowers and potted plants. About 10 min walk to the beach, it's rocky but the water and views are amazing. Good starting point for trips around the island. Recommend!

Fabulous traditional villa

Lovely villa, plenty of room and very well equipped. Lots of steps and villa up a steep hill.Stunning views from a terrace and fabulous pool, all surrounded by beautiful gardens and olive groves. Very quiet and peaceful. Car is very necessary but excellent restaurants and shops nearby. We loved Vitamins Taverna just up the road in Nissaki and a good selection of restaurants in Barbati. Loads to see and do on Corfu everyone so friendly. Be aware of the mosquitoes! Take repellent and keep screens closed., they are vicious!!!

Villa with nice view and large pool

the villa is nicely located. Great view to the sea. You still can walk to the beach. The house is not very modern but all you need for a summer stay. Aircons are working well. The pool is extra large. The house is surrounded by a lovely garden with many flowers. This is really nice. But the drawback are many mosquitoes. They are active day and night. So bring enough mosquito protection with you.
