General Information

Gaios is the capital of Paxos Island and the largest port, serving large ferries, hydrofoils and sea taxis from Corfu and Igoumenitsa.

As the largest town on the island, Gaios is relatively small and quaint, with Venetian architecture, a labyrinth of side streets, and pedestrian squares along the seafront. Restaurants and snack bars are scattered throughout the town, catering to all tastes and demands.

The surrounding olive groves offer a high standard of local Greek cuisine, a must-try for every visitor. Local amenities include a post office, banks, a chemist, a doctor's surgery, gift shops, a high school, jewellery and handmade craft shops, as well as supermarkets, bakeries, and butchers.

Gaios has a range of waterfront bars, ranging from quiet traditional coffee places to livelier bars playing a variety of music. Taxis are limited in number, and the bus service is regular, and it enables you to reach the resorts of Loggos and Lakka or smaller neighbourhoods.

Gaios is one of the most popular and cosmopolitan resorts in the Mediterranean. Hundreds of VIPs visit Gaios or reside in their private properties every summer, and finding a place to stay during the peak season can be challenging.

Sjour parfait

Nous avons pass un excellent sjour la Villa Stelios. Les deux chambres et deux salles de douche sont trs pratiques, mme en couple quand on a des problmes de sommeil ! La cuisine est bien quipe (mais nous l'avons pas vraiment utilise !). La vue mer depuis la terrasse est superbe, entendre le clapotis des vagues est trs agrable. C'est calme, la route est peu frquente, la crique 200m de l est trs jolie. Nous n'avons pas utilis la piscine vu la beaut des criques de l'le, mais elle avait l'air trs agrable et propre. Rien redire, c'est un super rapport qualit-prix. (EN: We had a wonderful stay at Villa Stelios. The two bedrooms and two shower rooms are very practical, even for couples who have trouble sleeping! The kitchen is well-equipped (though we didn't really use it!). The sea view from the terrace is superb, and listening to the waves is very pleasant. It's quiet, the road is not very busy, and the cove 200 meters away is very pretty. We didn't use the pool given the beauty of the island's coves, but it looked very nice and clean. We have absolutely no complaints; it's excellent value for money.)

Highly recommended

Všetko bolo super od rezervácie až po ubytovanie. Ak nám niečo chýbalo majiteľ bol ochotný a hneď to zabezpečil. Super sme si oddýchli a užili pobyt, radi by sme sa ešte vrátili. Pláž bola blízko. Komunikácia bola tiež bezproblémova. Vrelo odporúčame (EN: Everything was great from booking to accommodation. If we were missing something, the owner was helpful and provided it right away. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay, we would love to come back. The beach was close. Communication was also seamless. Highly recommended)

Really loved my stay at Villa Stelios

Really loved my stay at Villa Stelios and wish I had booked it for longer. I instantly felt relaxed and at home, thanks to the large outdoor area, the view, and the peaceful interior of the apartment. It had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. It was nice to be away from the city, yet close enough to reach if I wanted—a beautiful longer walk, but still nice nonetheless (with secret hidden beaches along the walk to discover). I enjoyed being just a few minutes’ walk from some private beaches, where I could go for a quick swim or use the pool onsite if I wished. It was very hard to leave this place, as it truly felt like home. I would stay again next time. Thank you!
